With the help of 27 national reports written by legal experts from the EU Member States, a comparative description of the national laws on protection orders was made (at the time of writing of the research proposal, Croatia had not acceded the European Union yet). It turns out that all Member States have some form of protection order scheme in place, mostly to counter repeat victimization by physical, mental, or sexual violence and stalking. There are, however, large discrepancies between the different national protection order laws and approaches.
